We traveled a bit in May and June. First we went to St. Augustine as a gift from Mara for a week. The beach was fine, there was a couple of rabbits in the back “yard” and a gopher tortoise as well. Some birds on the beach. But St. Augustine is so stuck on being “historic” that it dominates everything you want to do. They charge too much for almost everything and, apart from the fort, everything has been so re-worked it’s hard to get the lay of the land as it might have been. But we had fresh fish and we got to spend time together. Overall A pretty good rest, not too many photographic opportunities.
Then from the 31st of May until the 15th of June we were on the road to Rochester, New York to see Rick and Val, over to Livingston, New Jersey to see Carole by way of Cornell, New York which is a must see if you’ve never been and we got to spend a couple of days in NYC. Then back through Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina to home. The RV park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina was one of the best we’ve ever stayed in and we’ll go back that way when we can.
Made a few photographs with the Canon. Shot some with the iPhone. We went to the B&H Camera store and to SOHO in NYC to the Leica store to see the “Q”, came back up town to the “Highline” and walked to the northern end. That’s a great city. We need to go back more often.
Back home we walked around the Beltline some with Mara and I made a few photographs. Kinda hot, no reason not to work really…
This is a mish mash of everything. The photograph of the figurine of “Washington” is hilarious. It dates from the colonial period and is French. Only thing was the French didn’t know what Washington looked like and since they had seen a lot of Franklin they just used Franklin’s image and called it Washington.
