Pescia is a neat little place. I wish it were doing better, being worried that there are so many empty store fronts. We walked around town today, this evening, attended a panel discussion on a movement to make women’s achievements more prominent in urban signage and drove up the road with friends to a really nice restaurant; fried mushrooms, tagliatelle with mushroom sauce and Sorana white beans. Mario Alberto, Stella’s husband, has been ill but I think he’s on the mend. Everybody is pretty much OK but we lost Giuseppe Greco. Giuseppe was the husband of Mara’s first cousin Roberta Puccini. Wonderful man that one. Sicilian to the core and a man with the very best of human values. We loved him and we’ll miss him when we see the clear water and magnificent hills of Sicily and remember his generosity, good humour and his compassion for the less fortunate.
Til’ next time.
